It’s easy to assume that celebrities live perfect lives. After all, they all seem to live incredibly lavish lives. However, Hollywood stars are just like everyone else. Unfortunately, this means they can get sick. While many celebrities prefer to keep their health issues private, some others, like Olivia Munn, prefer to be more open about it.
In recent years, the X-Men: Apocalypse star has opened up about her health struggles. Since 2021, Munn has openly discussed how her life changed after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Recently, she shocked everyone by announcing she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Of course, fans can’t help but admire Munn for being so open about her health issues and her treatment.
“I wasn’t really sure what was going on with me,” Munn explained. “I was going through a lot of different ailments for years and not knowing what was happening.”
With the help of a team of five doctors at UCLA, the actress discovered that the cause of her discomfort was fibromyalgia, an autoimmune disorder characterized by intense musculoskeletal pain, muscle fatigue, sleep, memory, and mood issues.
Upon her diagnosis, Munn had to radically change her lifestyle to avoid feeling worse.
“My situation was at a place where it was like, ‘You’re either going to go down a path where you’re going to get multiple autoimmune diseases, or you have to stop now and we can try to get you better,’” she explained.
“It was like, ‘These are your choices.’ And so I had no choice, I was feeling so bad. I had to really listen to the doctor’s orders and cut all these things out.”
