Ye pulls Kamala Harris, Elon Musk and Taylor Swift into X rant
Kanye West singled out former Vice President Kamala Harris in his latest social media rant, apologizing after making vulgar statements about the Oakland native.
The controversial rapper, formerly known as Kanye West, began spamming his X account on Saturday, Feb. 1 in a posting spree that also mentioned Elon Musk and Taylor Swift.
“Kamala seems like a very nice human I just wanna say sorry to her kids,” he wrote in what appears to be a follow up on a since-deleted post from earlier in the evening in which he wrote that he “used to want to f— Kamala until she lost” but he doesn’t “f— losers anymore.”
Addressing the deleted X post, he also tweeted, “The democrats made me take the loser post down. Naw I’m kidding. Dey don’t control black people no more. Trump 4 life.”
Ye’s posts came a day before the 67th annual Grammy Awards, where he made a red carpet appearance with his wife, Bianca Censori. The Australian model and the head of architecture at her husband’s Yeezy brand turned heads for wearing a sheer dress that revealed her nipples and much more, which she dramatically revealed underneath a fur coat. After posing for photos, the couple reportedly went home, skipping the ceremony at Crypto.com Arena.
This isn’t the first time that Ye has tried to take center stage at an award show. He is coming up on the 15th anniversary of the infamous MTV Video Music Award incident, during which he interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech for best female video for “You Belong with Me” to note that Beyoncé was more deserving. Ye later name-dropped the pop superstar in his 2016 song “Famous,” during which he raps “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why? I made that b— famous.”
Ahead of the televised Grammy ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 2, Ye attempted to reignite the discourse about Swift on X. Between apologizing to Harris’ family and voicing his love for President Donald Trump, he shared a screenshot of a post from Complex, a digital pop culture site, announcing that Swift is the only person he follows on Instagram. Ye shared this information on his Instagram story Saturday, angering Swifties on social media who pleaded for him to leave the “Antihero” singer alone
During his X diatribe, he also showed his appreciation for longtime friend and fellow Trump supporter Elon Musk.
“Family 4 Life” he wrote in response to Musk, who had commented “Cool” on a new advertisement for Ye’s clothing brand Yeezy, which previewed some new pieces from the collection.
Ye also shared a screenshot of his text thread with Musk, in which the Bay Area tech mogul suggests that he “post pictures and videos related to the products” instead of “just a URL,” likely in reference to the launch.
“Anything real and cool works,” Musk, who owns X, advised.
Over the weekend, he also used his platform to back Musk’s controversial renaming of X, writing that “calling X Twitter is like calling Ye Kanye. I don’t wanna hear nobody call twitter twitter I mean X Don’t call X twitter.”
Ye was reinstated on X in 2023 after getting banned for posting a photo of a swastika entangled with a Star of David in 2022, shortly after Musk took over the social media platform.
