Action Movie Star Jean-Claude Van Damme Accused Of Knowingly Receiving Trafficked Women as “Gifts
Action movie legend Jean-Claude Van Damme has allegedly found himself in the middle of a criminal investigation and could face charges in relation to having an intimate relationship with women being trafficked by a group. The martial arts star is said to be facing charges after receiving five Romanian women as “gifts” while he was staying in Cannes, France.
According to a report by Antena 3, a criminal complaint has been filed with the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT). According to the details of the report, DIICOT launched an investigation based on the complaint of a woman who said she witnessed the deal being made during an event hosted by the actor.
Antena 3 quotes the prosecuting attorney, Adrian Cuculis, as saying that “several Romanians who are currently being investigated for forming a criminal group and pimping, allegedly offered Jean-Claude Van Damme five Romanian women — photo models in Romania — for him to have sexual relations with.”
The human trafficking investigation is reportedly part of a larger investigation by the Romanian Prosecutor’s Office that has been looking into cases dating back to 2020. While Van Damme seems to have been publicly named as part of the investigation, the report adds that any suspects would only be summoned to Romania to provide statements if France’s High Court of Cassation approves and authorizes the criminal proceedings.
