Donald Trump has become the official Republican presidential nominee after receiving the votes of enough delegates at the Republican National Convention.
Trump has been the presumptive nominee for months. But it was the vote of RNC delegates in Milwaukee that made it official Monday afternoon.
The top of Republicans’ presidential ticket was coming together Monday, as cheering delegates were casting votes to officially make Donald Trump the official GOP nominee and the former president announced JD Vance as his running mate.
The announcement came amid a frenzy of phone calls updating potential running mates and just days after an attempted assassination on Trump at a Pennsylvania rally.
Inside the convention hall, delegates flanked by “Make America Great Again” signs cheered wildly as state after state voted their support for Trump’s second term.
